Our Story
Since brewing our first beer, Look Out! we continued to gypsy brew and distribute our beer in South East Queensland while we decided on our next steps for the business.
In October 2017 we decided to build our own facility in Currumbin Valley, a small farmhouse artisanal brewery to compliment the surrounding valley and utilise the natural volcanic spring water on-site. The brewery is located on Pete's private 18 acre farm in the heart of Currumbin Valley. The focus was originally intended to be on a mixed culture project but the demand for our kettle sours and other offerings have slightly delayed that for now.
Currumbin Valley, located just inland from the busy Southern Gold Coast, is a nature-lovers paradise. The valley carves its way through the Queensland / New South Wales border region following the course of Currumbin Creek. A sub-tropical rainforest environment featuring fertile basalt volcanic soil, with a World-Heritage-Listed rainforest walk and abundant, native flora and fauna. The area is the perfect location for a farmhouse brewery with a focus on capturing wild yeast and brewing artisanal handcrafted beers.
Our farmhouse brewery consists of a 14 hectolitre brewhouse that was custom built with upcycled locally sourced dairy vats. The heating system on our 14hL hot liquor tank and 20hL kettle uses a thermal fluid heating system which is fired using an environmentally friendly waste oil burner, meeting Euro III emission standards. By making use of waste oil we are reducing reliance on natural gas and fuel oil supplies.
The brewery features a natural free flowing spring water source and we have just over 110,000 litres of spring water stored on-site at any one time. All our beers are created using water from our very own natural volcanic water spring.
